Project Description


SMART 67  aims at investigating the potential and the impact of new ICT applications and trends on urban transport, evolving in parallel with societal challenges. The study assesses the impact of urban policy objectives on the need for research and innovation in ICT in the area of transport. Future potential ICT-based mobility services for goods in urban and inter-urban environments are taken into account in order to assess how they can contribute to the optimization of mobility within the recently emerging European Smart Cities.

  • Outline new developments in mobility patterns, trends and policy changes in the European urban environment;
  • Provide the knowledge base to identify new ICT mobility services to optimize/replace mobility. To establish an overview of the current level of deployment and use of ICT based services relevant for mobility in urban areas.
  • carry out an in-depth inquiry on emerging ICT concepts for optimizing mobility in Smart Cities and the technical and scientific assessment of these ICT concepts.
  • Assess the social, economic and policy impacts of the ICT for mobility applications.
  • Elaborate a set of recommendations for the enhancement of ICT take-up in Cities, these include Innovation topics and technologies, integration aspects in cities and single applications and service packages.
  • Define best practices in cities which support these developments and the related information exchange between cities and stakeholders involved.
