ISIS relies on the expertise of a multi-disciplinary team - including engineers, statisticians, experts in information technology, economists – which uses sophisticated theoretical and technical tools to carry out:

• analysis of systems problems and situations;
• construction of mathematical models to forecasts on systems' future operation;
• definition of scenarios to describe in consistent plausible terms future complex situations whose formal analysis would otherwise be impossible;
• construction of decision support systems to assist decision makers in the hard task of choosing and designing complex policies in conditions of uncertainty;
• integration of different systems, taking into account financial, social, organisational and environmental considerations;
